Role Overview

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to support pupils with a range of additional needs. You will play a key role in helping children access the curriculum, develop socially and emotionally, and achieve their individual learning goals.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with special educational needs

Assist in implementing Educational Healthcare Plans

Support the class teacher in adapting lessons and resources to meet pupils’ needs

Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals

Support pupils during classroom activities, break times, and structured play sessions

Contribute to monitoring and recording pupil progress

Requirements

Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable

A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff

A good standard of literacy and numeracy

A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is essential
