A highly specialist referral unit in Syon is seeking an experienced Premises Assistant to join their dedicated site team. This is a unique and fast‑paced environment supporting pupils who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of exclusion. The setting is small, structured and highly focused on safety, consistency and behaviour regulation - meaning the premises team plays a crucial role in keeping the site running smoothly and safely every day.

This is not a typical mainstream school environment. You'll need to be resilient, calm under pressure, proactive, and confident working in a setting where pupils can become dysregulated. The team is supportive, hands‑on and committed to creating a safe, well‑maintained environment for staff and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily site checks, opening and closing the building, and ensuring all areas are safe and secure
  • Carrying out minor repairs, maintenance and basic DIY tasks
  • Supporting with health & safety compliance, including fire safety checks and site logs
  • Managing deliveries, stock, equipment and site resources
  • Ensuring classrooms, corridors and outdoor areas are clean, tidy and hazard‑free
  • Responding quickly to issues around the site and supporting staff during busy or challenging periods
  • Working closely with senior staff to maintain a safe, calm and well‑organised environment

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • Previous experience as a Premises Assistant, Caretaker or Site Assistant
  • Strong awareness of health & safety, safeguarding and site security
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • A practical, hands‑on approach with confidence in basic maintenance tasks
  • Resilience, reliability and a calm, professional manner

If you're an experienced Premises or Site Assistant looking for a role where you can make a real impact in a specialist, high‑needs setting, we'd love to hear from you. This is an excellent opportunity to join a committed team and support a provision that changes lives.
