About this role
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Band 6 Dietitian to join our team of 5 renal dietitians on a full time, permanent basis.
Full renal training, clinical supervision and wider therapies support will be provided for candidates not familiar with the renal specialty, but keen to learn new competencies.
The post holder will be responsible for the management of patients on the renal inpatient wards, patients on dialysis, as well as carrying a clinical outpatient caseload. The role is one of an expert practitioner who works autonomously as well as part of a team.
· To be responsibleforthe provisionof a specialist, evidencebased dieteticrenalnutrition services toLow Clearance,Nephrology, Haemodialysis,PeritonealDialysis and Transplantation patients both in an inpatient and an outpatient environment.
· To provide expert advice to patients,carers,and clinicians regarding provision ofnutritional support for renal patients based onclinical evidence. This will involvenutritional diagnosis, thedevelopment of treatmentplans andprescription of dietarytreatmentand ACBS products.
· To interpret received information concerning medicalandsocial history to ensure expert advice is given in a person centred,ageand culturally specific way.
· To providehighlycomplex renalnutrition counsellingand use of reassurance andmotivationalskills to overcome barriers tochangeparticularlywhere thereisnoncompliance.
· To train and support members of the multidisciplinary team to allow effective use ofa nutritional screening tool.
· Ability toutilise developedcommunication and teaching skillsto educatethe diverseandmulticultural renal population with barriers tounderstanding the essential,highly complexrenal advice both on a one-to-one basis andingroups.
· To make clinical decisionsabout theappropriate andsafeadministration of EN (enteralnutrition) orPN (parenteral nutrition) to the patient or recommendations asto alternativenutritionsupport.
