About this role

This is an exciting time to join the Cardiology Department at Epsom and St. Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The Cardiology Investigations Unit offers a full range of Non-invasive Cardiology investigations, pacemaker implants, echocardiography and a mobile Cath lab. The unit is undergoing expansion and currently supports 8 Cardiologists across the 2 sites at Epsom and St Helier.

We are seeking a Senior Cardiographer to join our busy team to support increasing referrals, They will be expected to work across the 2 sites.

The postholder is expected to help provide administrative support to our Admin and Clerical team. Experience of working with computers is an advantage.

Cardiographers are vital to the work of the Cardiology Investigations Department, working alongside Cardiac Physiologists, performing ECG’s (recording of the heart rhythm), fitting 24hr heart rhythm and blood pressure monitors and 7 day monitors and assisting with exercise tests in the department.

1. To undertake the recording and interpretation of electrocardiograms (ECGs), within the

department and throughout the hospital as required.

2. The postholder will undertake a competency-based training and assessment programme

within the department for ECG and be able to demonstrate recognition of the main cardiac

arrhythmias and basic electrocardiography instrumentation and troubleshooting technical

faults.

3. The postholder should hold the Society for Cardiological Science and Technology Certificate

in Electrocardiography or equivalent in-house assessment.

2. 4. provide explanation and reassurance to patients undergoing routine non-invasive cardiac

investigations and to assist patients with dressing and undressing

5. To fit and remove 24 hour ambulatory ECG monitors

6. To fit and upload/download and report event recorders

7. To undertake preventative maintenance of ECG and ambulatory ECG recorders and exercise

testing equipment
