Principal Clinical Scientist (MRI Physics), Band 8a

This 12-month maternity cover position is an exciting opportunity for a talented clinical scientist to join the The MRI & US Physics team at Barts Health.

We support the Radiology MRI & US services, and are composed of four other full-time MR physicists, one US physicist and two specialist INIR STP trainees.

A key aspect of this role will be aiding the MRI physics team support Clinical Trials and other research projects, and the successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their own research interests. We collaborate with Institutes of the Barts Medical School and other QMUL departments.

Barts Radiology currently has 11 MRI scanners across five hospitals and the successful candidate will act as a site Magnetic Resonance Safety Expert (MRSE) and will support the clinical service in collaboration with senior members of the team. There will also be opportunities to cross cover for our Ultrasound Physicist.

This would be an excellent post for a candidate looking to broaden their experience in pursuit of MRSE accreditation, or to develop project management skills by contributing to MRI procurement and replacement projects.

Barts Clinical Physics takes an active role in the STP scheme and the post-holder will actively participate in the INIR training at Barts Health. Although an 8a post, we would be prepared to offer the post at Band 7 to a successful candidate with less experience
