About this role
The post is responsible for covering a portfolio of specialist public health functions: Leading on disease prevention (in particular the CVD prevention) and developing cross-agency strategic plans for this portfolio area. Provide strategic leadership for the NHS Health Checks programme, including commissioning and monitoring performance, managing budget and team. Leading on healthcare public health for the department, working with the SEL ICB colleagues Ensuring the delivery of high quality disease surveillance, response and support systems. Deputise for the Director of Public Health as necessary. Support the London-wide and SE London approach to specific joint programmes of work where relevant to their expertise Provide expert public health advice to Local Authority commissioners, including Public Health commissioners and undertake direct commissioning and procurement where relevant. Taking responsibility for the training obligations of the directorate by supervising and supporting Public Health and GP registrars on placement within the department in liaison with other senior colleagues. Support the Director of Public Health in the provision of expert public health advice to the Council, SEL ICB and partner agencies as required; presenting at meetings and attending the SEL ICB and Council meetings and committees as required.
