About this role

The post holder must be an experienced Registered General Nurse and be an accredited colposcopist by the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP)

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will work with the Lead Nurse 's & Lead Clinician for Colposcopy and will work with the team of colposcopy nurse specialist who are responsible for efficiency and organisation of the colposcopy service and deliver integrated care for women.

  • The nurse will have in-depth knowledge of gynaecology and health promotion and be responsible for the co-ordination of all activities within the Colposcopy service and work alongside the nurse colposcopy team.
  • The nurse will work in partnership with the named Lead Consultants to deliver clinical objectives for the Gynaecology and Colposcopy service.
  • Be an accredited nurse colposcopist and act as an autonomous practitioner in undertaking diagnostic and therapeutic clinic sessions, taking responsibility and accountability for appropriate clinical management and care programmes. The post holder is responsible for the standards and evaluation of training and supervision of nursing staff within the unit.
  • Participates in the collaborative management of the Gynaecology Service and is recognised as a key member of the senior nursing leadership team.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our senior nursing leadership team working bank within the colposcopy service providing nurse led services alongside the colposcopy nursing team. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced nurse colposcopist to join our expanding colposcopy service to provide additional support as and when required due to service need

The successful candidate will provide strong and effective leadership, and clinical expertise in relation to colposcopy, the nursing team and other clinical colleagues. They will be an independent practitioner able to identify and implement new practices within their area of expertise.

They will be responsible for supporting the service, training and developing of staff, implementing and monitoring effective pathways across the Integrated Care System.

This role will be integral in developing and sustaining effective relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the Health promotion and prevention agenda is delivered as well as reducing hospital attendances

The senior nurse specialist will work with and support the Lead Consultant for Colposcopy and will be instrumental in delivering on all aspects of governance, risk, professional and operational leadership. In addition, patient safety is fundamental to the excellence of the services, and the post holder will be responsible for ensuring the consistent delivery of evidence-based, safe and effective nursing, infection prevention, and safeguarding standards.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the gynaecology nursing team and will have key working relationships with divisional service management team and other senior nursing colleagues across the division.

The successful candidate will provide compassionate and visible leadership and be able to create a culture of excellence, driving forward service improvements whilst maintaining patient-centered care. We are looking for a dynamic and committed nurse, with the ability to communicate effectively across multi-professional boundaries.
