I’m a 28-year-old man living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), looking for a reliable and proactive Personal Assistant to support me in living an independent and fulfilling life at home and in the community.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll be supporting me across all aspects of daily life.

About the Role

You will provide support with

Personal care

hoisting, dressing, toileting, showering, and daily stretching.

Health support

ventilation equipment, standing wheelchair, and weekly swimming.

Domestic tasks

meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a tidy environment.

Social activities

attending events, outings, and occasional sailing support.

General support

shopping, organisation, working from home, and lifting heavier items when needed.

About You

  • Full UK or EU driving licence (automatic) – essential for using my Motability vehicle for some activities
  • Experience with manual handling preferred (training provided)
  • Enjoys cooking and preparing healthy meals
  • Positive, reliable, and flexible (including some evenings/weekends)
  • Comfortable supporting with personal care

An interest in fitness or sport would be beneficial, as you’ll be supporting physiotherapy routines.

Working Hours

  • 35 hours per week

Shifts between 7

00am – 8:00pm (flexibility to work outside these hours)

  • Mix of 4–12 hour shifts across the week
  • Flexible working pattern agreed in advance
