About this role

Working in a clinical session providing contraception, especially long acting reversible contraception (LARC) and the testing and management of sexual infections.

The holder of the post would work alongside a medical and nursing team in providing services in a level 3 Integrated sexual health service.

Experience of independent practice in LARC provision is essential. Experience of providing contraception to specific populations such as young people, peri-menopausal women and those with specific medical conditions would be desirable. Prior experience in management of sexual infections, is essential as training. This post is not recognised for specialty training.

· Actively participate in clinical governance activities

· Pursue continuing medical education to the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive health and GMC guidelines.

1. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The following is not an exhaustive or exclusive list of the duties of this post.

The appointee is expected to

· Providing contraception, especially long acting reversible contraception (LARC) and the testing and management of sexual infections.

· Work independently, but within competencies at all times. Seek senior support where necessary.

· Show flexibility and undertake different appropriate clinical tasks within allocated DCC sessions at the request of the clinical manager, as the need arises.

2. RESPONSIBILITY FOR POLICY AND SERVICE DEVELOPMENT

· Actively participate in clinical guidelines development, audit and CPD.

3. RESPONSIBILITY FOR LEADING AND MANAGING

· Actively contribute to clinical guidelines development, clinical governance activities.

4. RESPONSIBILITY FOR INFORMATION RESOURCES

· Work with manager to stay up-to-date with EPR changes

· Ensure accurate, complete and contemporaneous coding of clinical activity.

5. RESPONSIBILITY FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

· Pursue continuing medical education to the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive health and GMC guidelines.

· Actively participate in the Unit’s Teaching Programme and undertake supervision, teaching and training of medical trainees and other multi-professional staff, in line with guidance from the relevant specialty bodies.
