Bank Residential Support Worker

About this role

What you'll be doing

Supporting children and young people in residential settings: short-notice cover and planned bank shifts within Ofsted-regulated children's homes.

Working alongside the home's Registered Manager and existing team.

Following the placement-specific risk plan, behaviour support plan and safeguarding protocols delivered at the start of every assignment.

Completing structured shift recording and handover so the home has a clear record of what happened on shift.

Who we're looking for

Essentials (must have, or willing to obtain before first shift)

Right to work in the UK — verifiable evidence required.

Enhanced DBS certificate (children's workforce + relevant barred lists), registered to the DBS Update Service. We do not accept DBS certificates that are not on the Update Service.

Commitment to complete the necessary training (e-learning and face to face) across the first six months.

Availability for flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and overnight cover.

Strong advantage

Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or active progression toward it.

Prior experience working in children's residential care, semi-independent provision, or supported accommodation.

Team Teach, Paediatric First Aid, ASIST, or Crisis De-escalation already in date with named accredited providers.

Experience supporting young people with trauma, attachment, complex behaviour, or self-harm presentations.

What we offer

Honest pay. £17/hr inclusive of rolled-up holiday pay. Unsocial-hours premiums applied per assignment, not buried in fine print.

Comprehensive paid training. e-learning bundle for the online modules, plus accredited face-to-face Team Teach (full course) — all delivered through named accredited providers, all paid by CCS.

Shift allocation prioritised by reliability. The Workers who turn up well-prepared and follow the protocols get first call on the better placements. No favouritism — just track record.

Career progression. A pathway from Bank to salaried RSW — fixed-block working with availability allowance and deployment bonuses on top of base salary (illustrative £52–66k total compensation depending on block pattern).
