Role Overview
As a Plant Fitter, you’ll play a key role in maintaining, repairing, and inspecting a wide range of heavy plant and machinery. You’ll ensure our equipment is safe, reliable, and ready to support operations across multiple sites. This role suits someone who thrives in a hands on environment, enjoys problem solving, and takes pride in high quality workmanship.
️ Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on heavy plant equipment (e.g., excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers).
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults efficiently and accurately.
- Conduct pre hire inspections and ensure all machinery meets safety and compliance standards.
- Respond to breakdowns on-site and provide timely, effective repairs to minimise downtime.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
- Work collaboratively with the Plant Manager and site teams to prioritise workloads.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with company safety procedures and industry regulations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Plant & Fleet department.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience as a Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of heavy plant machinery and associated systems.
- Ability to read technical manuals and interpret diagnostic information.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong problem solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
- Commitment to safe working practices.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience working within construction, plant or civil engineering environments.
