Consultant Nephrologist

This is a 9 PA post for a Consultant Nephrologist.

The post will support the existing innovative clinical and academic programme in chronic kidney disease, community-based kidney care across the North Central London sector.

The postholder will provide a 10-week general medicine ward cover commitment, diagnostic clinic, inpatient Renal reviews and out of hours work at North Middlesex with a specialist clinic at Tottenham Hale site. In addition, the post includes virtual CKD, Renal diabetes MDT, teaching and full participation in the educational and CPD activities of the department. Educational supervision of resident doctors can be negotiated with appropriate accreditation in place.

This post is shared jointly with the North Middlesex and Royal Free Health Units (7PAs North Middlesex and 2 Royal Free Hospital (Tottenham Hale site).

There is a weekly Radiology meeting to review inpatient and outpatient imaging and a fortnightly ward discharge clinic delivered by the Renal SpRs and supervised by the ward consultant.

Additional North Middlesex duties consist of a Renal diagnostic clinic (30 per year) plus 2 hours of administrative time for email queries and clinic correspondence. The clinic does not run when covering the wards.

A weekly Virtual CKD clinic via the NCL portal (established in January 2024) including advice and guidance, virtual case review using EMIS portal and triage to secondary care

clinics across the sector.
