We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and experienced Sonographer to join our team as Lead Sonographer for Mile End Hospital Community Diagnostic Centre. The post

holder will provide operational and clinical leadership for the Community Diagnostic Centre ultrasound service. This is an opportunity for suitably skilled Sonographer to enhance their skills by developing their leadership and management pillar in Advanced Clinical Practice.

The successful candidate should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be committed to providing and developing a high-quality ultrasound service. In addition, they must be able to deputise for the Ultrasound Lead Sonographer for CDC and Networked Services in their absence and work closely with the other Lead Sonographers in the Trust and therefore be flexible in their approach to work.

A desire to teach others is essential, as is good organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workload and effective liaison with other departments. Current and up to date state registration through a

regulatory body (HCPC; NMC or GMC) in the UK and Case accredited Ultrasound qualification, DMU or Post Graduate Cert / Diploma in Medical Ultrasound is essential.

This post holder is responsible for supporting the integration of the Networked Ultrasound service, managing the both the CDC and Early Diagnostic Centre Ultrasound services and ensuring cross site rotation of the Sonographer workforce.

The post holder will act as Operational Lead Sonographer for Mile End Hospital Community Diagnostic Centre and Early Diagnostic Ultrasound service. Responsible for clinical support and mentoring to the diagnostic imaging team of sonographers, Trainee Sonographers, Imaging Assistants, admin, and clerical team and actively develop the service in conjunction with NHS guidelines and directives.

The post holder will work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team to undertake both clinical (50%), managerial and leadership (50%) duties, liaising with modality Lead Sonographers within the Trust and Northeast London.

The post holder will assist in the co-ordination, management and allocation of staff and resources within the networked ultrasound service as appropriate, with a focus on Mile Hospital site. The post holder will monitor patient pathways and justification of referrals, promote patient advocacy and communicate effectively with other Health Care Professionals and outside agencies regarding patient care.

The post holder will undertake clinical work within established quality standards of practice, adhering to ultrasound guidelines such as those published by BMUS, RCOG, RCR, FASP and NICE to ensure safe delivery of all ultrasound imaging, reporting and management of the patient within the agreed department protocols.
