** Background

Opened in July 2021, Better Space is an affordable co-working and community space developed in partnership between City Ventures (City’s Enterprise Education department) and Islington Borough Council, to support local businesses with a focus on Social Enterprises. The space, located at 127 Farringdon Road, provides over 70 desks for local entrepreneurs, social impact start ups and charities, in addition to an event space, meeting rooms and a spacious communal kitchen.

We now have more than 140 members accessing the space and are developing our programmes and events in order to generate social value in Islington

** Responsibilities

The Community Assistant will be fundamental in nurturing a thriving workspace community, as the first face members are greeted with as they arrive and the first point of contact for any questions or connections. The position will work with the Community Team to manage inbound event and membership enquiries, coordinate tours and be involved in supporting the running of events for members and for external clients using the space.

This role will work with the Senior Community Officer on marketing content for the newsletter, social media and blog contributions as well as being involved in event planning and support for members and for external clients using the space.

This is an exciting role which offers the post holder the opportunity to develop and influence the outputs of an important and innovative initiative which will support local economic recovery and deliver social value to City’s broader community.

** Person Specification

This role is for you if you have a genuine passion for customer service, ideally in a coworking environment. You're solution-focused with a bias for action, personable and approachable, and someone who rolls their sleeves up as part of a team. You're confident supporting events, handling sales enquiries, interested in building and nurturing communities, and have some experience with digital marketing across social media and other channels. You communicate clearly in writing and when presenting, can represent Better Space with confidence both internally and externally, and have a keen eye for detail. Lastly, you care about social impact and want to support entrepreneurs making a difference.
