About this role
Our client, a highly regarded educational organisation, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Full-time SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team in Hounslow. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional who is committed to supporting the educational needs of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing invaluable support to pupils with a range of learning difficulties and physical disabilities. Your role will involve working closely with teachers, therapists, and other education professionals to ensure that each child receives the individualised attention and care they need to thrive.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist children with SEND in both one-on-one and small group settings, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals
- Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver tailored learning activities that cater to the unique needs of each child
- Provide personal care and support, such as helping with toileting, feeding, and mobility, as required
- Implement behaviour management strategies to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Maintain detailed records and contribute to the development of each child's education, health, and care plans
- Liaise with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach to the child's support
- Accompany and supervise children during break times, educational visits, and other school activities
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with the latest SEND teaching practices and strategies
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a range of skills and qualifications. Our client is looking for candidates who:
- Hold a relevant qualification in teaching, learning support, or a related field (e.g. , NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent)
- Have previous experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, preferably within a school or educational setting
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of the various special educational needs and disabilities, and the strategies and adaptations required to support these learners
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
- Are patient, empathetic, and committed to promoting the inclusion and well-being of all students
- Can work both independently and as part of a team, and are willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed
- Have a valid Enhanced DBS check (or the ability to obtain one)
In return, our client offers a competitive daily rate of £90 - £120, depending on your experience and qualifications. This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will be expected to work Monday to Friday, during term-time.
