About this role

TheBader Gym, located withinQueen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton, is a specialist, purpose‑built exercise facility open to people of all ages. The gym supports able‑bodied users as well as individuals with a wide range of physical conditions, learning disabilities, and mental health needs.

Our service plays an important role in supportingpatients from the inpatient rehabilitation wards, individuals underMSK Outpatient services, those continuing withfalls‑prevention programmes, as well ashospital staff and the general public. This creates a varied, rewarding working environment where exercise support contributes to rehabilitation, wellbeing and community health.

We are seeking enthusiasticExerciseFacilitator/ Fitness Instructors/ Personal Trainerwith strong communication skills and experience working in a gym or exercise‑led environment. The role includes delivering safe and supervised sessions, supporting user inductions, assisting with progression of exercise programmes, and contributing to the day‑to‑day running of a busy rehabilitation‑focused facility.

This position is well‑suited to individuals withLevel 2/3 fitness industry qualificationsand practical experience in exercise instruction. While you will work closely with clinical teams, this isnot a physiotherapy or clinically banded post, but rather an opportunity for those passionate about inclusive exercise, functional fitness, and supporting diverse user groups.

The purpose of the Exercise Facilitator is to co-ordinate the running of the Bader gym and supervise the 3 Fitness Instructors as well as assessing clients’ fitness needs and design suitable exercise programmes for them. You will oversee the daily running of the Bader gym; advise clients regarding the use of the equipment; monitor and ensure safe practice in the use of the facilities and be involved with running group exercise classes.

The successful candidate will have a recognised gym instructor qualification with significant experience within a gym environment; have excellent communication skills and a professional manner. You will have patience and understanding of the needs of others and enjoy working with a variety of people including disabled users.

The Bader gym team is an established team comprised of 1 full time and 2 part time fitness instructors.

The gym is open Mon - Fri from 8am - 5pm and offers exercise provision to a range of clients as well as patients being treated within the rehabilitation wards in the hospital.

It also offers free access to staff as part of the health and well being initiatives of the trust for its staff
