Acute Medicine Undergraduate Medical Education Fellow

The Acute Medicine Undergraduate Medical Education Fellow will undertake a dual role combining clinical service in Acute Medicine with dedicated time for medical education. Approximately half of the post will be focused on registrar-level clinical duties within Acute Medicine, with the remaining time protected for the development and delivery of educational activity.

Main responsibilities include

Administration, delivery and evaluation of high-quality Acute Medicine teaching to students Completion of students Supervised Learning Events assessments Troubleshooting of areas for improvement as identified in student feedback Facilitation of mock examination stations for students Participation in student examinations and OSCEs across all year groups and sites Mentorship and guidance for students expressing keenness to pursue Acute Medicine Networking in order to exchange and share ideas and practice among peers Setting up of new student initiatives as demand and capacity Ensuring sustainability of any changes beyond the duration of this post Clinical duties, depending on experience level of postholder at Medical SpR Level This post allows application for an honorary contract with UCL Medical School, and as such presents opportunities for further experience in assessment, feedback, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and creating specific learning resources for medical students. The postholder will be invited to participate in a UCL Introduction of Clinical Teaching (formerly Training to Teach) course, and will be encouraged to study for a postgraduate certification in Medical Education. The postholder will be supported to build their teaching portfolio to assist in gaining accreditation through the Higher Education Academy prior to completing their post. There will be a wealth of other opportunities for personal and educational development during this post, as well as explore research in medical education, and the candidate will be encouraged and supported to pursue their interests in this regard.
