£31,659 - £36,024 Role Overview Join our Orthopaedic and Spinal Ward as a Healthcare Assistant and become part of a team dedicated to supporting patients through some of the most important stages of their recovery journey. Our Orthopaedic and Spinal Ward cares for adults recovering from both elective and complex surgery. The team works closely with specialist consultants, physiotherapists and multidisciplinary colleagues to support patients through every stage of their recovery journey. It is a supportive and collaborative environment where patient care, teamwork and professionalism are valued highly. The Role As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play an important part in helping patients regain confidence and independence following surgery. Recovery can often be a challenging time for patients, and your support, reassurance and day to day care will make a genuine difference to their experience. You will work alongside Nurses, Physiotherapists and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, compassionate and high quality care within a busy surgical ward environment. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with people and takes pride in delivering excellent patient care. Key Responsibilities Support patients with personal care, hygiene, nutrition and mobility while promoting dignity and independence Assist patients with mobilisation and rehabilitation following orthopaedic and spinal procedures Carry out routine observations and escalate any concerns appropriately Help maintain a safe, clean and well organised ward environment Support patient admissions, transfers and discharges to ensure a smooth patient journey Build positive and professional relationships with patients, relatives and colleagues Work closely with the nursing team to support the day to day running of the ward Ensure patient safety, confidentiality and wellbeing are maintained at all times What We Are Looking For Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within an acute surgical hospital ward setting (Essential) Experience supporting surgical or post-operative patients would be beneficial A caring, calm and professional approach Strong communication and teamwork skills Someone organised, dependable and able to work well in a busy ward environment A genuine interest in orthopaedic and spinal care, with a willingness to learn and develop further Able to work flexibly on a rotational shift pattern including days, nights and weekends
