This 12-month Clinical Informatics Fellowship in Acute Medicine is a combined clinical and research post based in the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The role is designed for post-MRCP doctors who wish to develop skills in clinical informatics, epidemiology and data science while maintaining active clinical practice.The Fellow will spend 50% of their time undertaking supervised research and 50% delivering registrar-level clinical care within AMU, Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), and the Enhanced Care Unit (ECU). Research duties include contributing to established projects, recruiting to portfolio studies, collecting and analysing clinical data, developing research skills in methodology and biostatistics, and supporting academic publications and funding applications. Clinical responsibilities include assessing and managing acutely unwell medical patients, providing senior decision-making support to junior doctors, supervising resident staff, participating in the acute medical take, and occasionally deputising for the Duty Medical Registrar. The Fellow works within a multidisciplinary team and follows a rolling rota that includes daytime, evening and some enhanced hours.
