THE OPPORTUNITY
A welcoming and inclusive three‑form entry primary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking an Assistant SENCO to join their SEND team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN practitioner looking to step into a leadership‑support role within a well‑structured, community‑focused school.
The role is full‑time, term‑time only, with an ASAP or May start available.

THE ROLE - ASSISTANT SENCO
You will work closely with the SENCO and senior leadership team to support the coordination and delivery of SEND across the school. This is a hands‑on role combining leadership responsibilities with direct support for pupils, staff and families.
Key responsibilities include
- Supporting the SENCO with day‑to‑day SEND coordination
- Assisting with EHCP processes, annual reviews and referrals
- Supporting teachers with inclusive classroom practice and differentiation
- Overseeing interventions, assessments and progress tracking
- Liaising with parents, external agencies and multi‑disciplinary teams
- Contributing to whole‑school SEND strategy and development
WHO CAN APPLY?
The school is open to a range of backgrounds and welcomes applications from candidates with strong SEND experience, including:
- QTS (preferred but not required)
- ECTs with strong SEN experience
- QTLS‑qualified teachers
- Post‑16 SEN practitioners transitioning into primary
- Experienced SEN Teachers, HLTAs or Inclusion Leads with leadership potential
You will need
- Strong experience supporting pupils with SEND, including Autism, SEMH and communication needs
- A solid understanding of inclusive practice and adaptive teaching
- Confidence working with families, external agencies and support services
- A proactive, organised and compassionate approach
