We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Barnet. This full-time opportunity offers flexibility with either an immediate start or a September 2026 start date, alongside the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.

In this role, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum and thrive within a positive and supportive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including ASD, ADHD, and SEMH
  • Support the class teacher in adapting learning materials and resources to meet individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Assist pupils with emotional regulation, social development, and communication strategies
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCo and external professionals to monitor pupil progress and wellbeing
  • Promote an inclusive and nurturing learning environment that encourages confidence and independence

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN, ideally within a primary school setting
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment
  • A proactive attitude and genuine commitment to inclusive education
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning is desirable, though not essential
