We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join a mainstream secondary school in East Ham, supporting students within both mainstream classrooms and the school's Resource Provision (RP).

This rewarding role involves supporting students with a range of severe and complex additional needs, helping them to access education, develop independence, and feel supported within a positive and inclusive learning environment.

You may work with students who require support with

  • Non-verbal communication and speech and language development
  • Mobility support, including wheelchair users
  • Autism, including high sensory needs and emotional regulation challenges
  • Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) methods, such as PECS, Makaton, communication boards, and voice-output devices
  • Highly differentiated learning approaches, including sensory-based and life-skills-focused learning

This is a challenging yet highly rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people. Previous SEN experience is desirable due to the complex needs of the students being supported.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs
  • Previous experience working within SEN or educational settings
  • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students and staff
