About the Role
We’re looking for a Volunteer Engagement Officer to join our Volunteering Team on a part-time basis (7 hours per week). This is a
new role, created to strengthen how we engage, support, and listen to our volunteers, ensuring they have a positive and meaningful
experience with Pact.
This role takes a proactive, people-centred approach to volunteer engagement, retention, communication, and feedback. You’ll work
closely with the National Volunteering Manager and colleagues across the organisation to help volunteers feel valued, informed,
and connected throughout their journey.
This is a high-impact role within limited hours, ideal for someone who enjoys relationship-based work, spotting issues early, and
helping others build confidence in engagement and systems.
What You’ll Be Doing
· Proactively engaging with volunteers to support positive experiences and retention
· Staying in touch with volunteers during recruitment and onboarding, particularly where there are delays
· Helping identify and respond early to signs of disengagement
· Coordinating and supporting volunteer feedback, including surveys and forums
· Sharing insights and learning to support continuous improvement across the organisation
· Supporting colleagues and managers with practical approaches to engaging and supporting volunteers
· Promoting confident and consistent use of our volunteer management system (Assemble)
· Supporting engagement initiatives such as Volunteers’ Week
· Providing flexible support across the Volunteering Team during periods of leave or increased pressure
About You
You don’t need to have worked directly with volunteers before — we’re interested in your transferable skills and approach. You’re
likely to be someone who
· Enjoys working with people and building positive relationships
· Communicates clearly, sensitively, and professionally
· Is confident using digital systems and supporting others to do the same
· Values listening to feedback and using insight to improve experiences
· Can prioritise effectively and make good use of limited time
· Works well as part of a small, collaborative team
· Shares our values and is committed to inclusive, respectful practice
Experience in the voluntary or charity sector is welcome but not essential.
Why Join Us?
· Make a real difference to volunteer experience and retention
· Work flexibly within a supportive and collaborative team
· Shape a new role with clear purpose and impact
· Contribute to a preventative, sustainable approach to volunteering
