We are looking for a confidentMaintenance Assistant to carry out a range of day-to-day maintenance tasks in order to ensure the hospital is maintained in a safe and efficient functional order, making a positive difference to the lives of the people in our care atCygnet Hospital Harrow. You will be working 37.5 hours a week (Monday - Friday) -(8am - 4pm) or (9am - 5pm) Cygnet Hospital Harrowprovides a recovery focused service treating a wide range of mental health problems. We also offer specialist diagnostic, assessment and inpatient services for individuals with mental health needs and who also have a dual diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. Our acute in-patient psychiatric services offer assessment, diagnosis and treatment for individuals with a wide range of psychological and emotional problems, including those who are detained under the Mental Health Act. Working within a mental health setting requires a calm, respectful, and professional approach at all times. You will be expected to work sensitively around patients, maintaining confidentiality and contributing to a supportive environment. Your Day-to-Day... Carry out general maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry, and painting Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment to identify and resolve issues promptly Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety regulations Support the maintenance team with planned preventative maintenance schedules Assist with moving and setting up equipment, furniture, and rooms as required Maintain accurate records of completed work and report any major repair needs Ensure a safe environment, particularly considering the needs of vulnerable patients Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment and potential hazards Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights You are... Experienced in a similar role, or have previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, or handyman role Basic knowledge of building systems (plumbing, electrics, general repairs) Able to communicate at all levels & record detailed, accurate maintenance information Skilled at DIY & general maintenance Friendly, conscientious & an excellent team member with a positive attitude.
