Job Summary

The GP Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients, providing a welcoming and efficient service at the front desk. The role involves managing appointments, handling enquiries, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the clinic while maintaining a high standard of patient care and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Services Greet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner Respond to telephone, email, and in-person enquiries Provide accurate information about clinic services and procedures Appointment Management Book, cancel, and reschedule appointments Manage GP and nurse appointment systems effectively Prioritise urgent cases in line with practice protocols Administrative Duties Maintain and update patient records accurately Register new patients and process relevant documentation Handle scanning, and general office tasks Communication & Coordination Liaise with doctors, nurses, and other staff members Pass on messages promptly and accurately Support referrals and follow-up processes Confidentiality & Compliance Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times Comply with GDPR, NHS policies, and clinic procedures General Duties Manage incoming and outgoing post Keep the reception area tidy and organised Assist with other administrative tasks as required

Skills & Requirements

Strong communication and interpersonal skills Good organisational and multitasking abilities Ability to remain calm under pressure Basic IT skills (e.g., appointment systems, Microsoft Office) Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
