We are looking for a confident Maintenance Assistant to carry out a range of day-to-day maintenance tasks in order to ensure the hospital is maintained in a safe and efficient functional order, making a positive difference to the lives of the people in our care at Cygnet Hospital Harrow.
You will be working 37.5 hours a week (Monday - Friday) - (8am - 4pm) or (9am - 5pm)
Cygnet Hospital Harrow provides a recovery focused service treating a wide range of mental health problems. We also offer specialist diagnostic, assessment and inpatient services for individuals with mental health needs and who also have a dual diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
Our acute in-patient psychiatric services offer assessment, diagnosis and treatment for individuals with a wide range of psychological and emotional problems, including those who are detained under the Mental Health Act.
Working within a mental health setting requires a calm, respectful, and professional approach at all times. You will be expected to work sensitively around patients, maintaining confidentiality and contributing to a supportive environment.
Your Day-to-Day...
- Carry out general maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry, and painting
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment toidentify and resolve issues promptly
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety regulations
- Support the maintenance team with planned preventative maintenance schedules
- Assist with moving and setting up equipment, furniture, and rooms as required
- Maintain accurate records of completed work and report any major repair needs
- Ensure a safe environment, particularly considering the needs of vulnerable patients
- Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment and potential hazards
- Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights
You are...
- Experienced in a similar role, or have previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, or handyman role
- Basic knowledge of building systems (plumbing, electrics, general repairs)
- Able to communicate at all levels & record detailed, accurate maintenance information
- Skilled at DIY & general maintenance
- Friendly, conscientious & an excellent team member with a positive attitude.
- Car Driver (advantageous)
