An established engineering and production business is seeking a CNC Turning Machine Operator to support the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC lathes. This is a hands‑on, precision‑focused role requiring mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up CNC turning machines, interpreting engineering drawings, and producing high‑quality components to tight tolerances. You will work across various stages of the machining process, ensuring all work meets technical specifications and production standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up CNC turning machines (lathes), including installing tools, fixtures, and materials
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
  • Operate CNC machines to manufacture components within tolerance limits
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as required
  • Carry out routine inspections using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
  • Ensure all finished parts meet quality and accuracy standards
  • Troubleshoot minor machine issues and report major faults
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant working environment
  • Follow all health & safety procedures and company operating standards

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Basic understanding of CNC machining and turning processes
  • Ability to read and follow engineering drawings and schematics
  • Familiarity with G‑code (desirable)
  • Competence using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and torque wrenches
  • Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving ability
  • Good manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
