About this role

The Olayan day Unit are seeking an enthusiastic Scheduling officer to help maintain the efficient scheduling of treatments in their medical day Unit at our Sutton site. This post is vital to the smooth running of the unit, you should possess excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and organisational skills. Keyboard/IT skills are essential, and hospital experience is desirable.

The administrator is an integral member of the Day Care Unit team, under the supervision of the admin lead and sister’s of the Day Care Unit.

The post holder will coordinate all administrative aspects of the Day Care Unit including reception duties, scheduling chemotherapy appointments, preparation of chemotherapy workflows, data collection, and clerical duties.

Job Description and Person Specification

  • Appointments, scheduling and capacity management.
  • To deal with all new patient chemotherapy referrals from clinicians, ensuring that the first chemotherapy treatment is scheduled within Cancer Waiting Times targets.
  • To liaise directly with the patient regarding their treatment, providing information and reassurance and managing patient expectations around the Day care unit experience.
  • To liaise with the clinical teams and nursing staff to prioritise the scheduling of new referrals.
  • To schedule all chemotherapy/supportive treatment on the Day Care Unit in line with local guidelines and protocols.
