About this role

The Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) is part of the multidisciplinary team and plays a vital role within the team, providing holistic, patient- centred care which is planned and directed by health care professionals. Under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse (RN), midwife or nurse associate (RNA) the HCSW will undertake a range of core clinical skills and depending on the area worked may include specific clinical skills relevant to the speciality. The post holder is expected to cover the duties of other HCSW colleagues within the range of the post holder’s knowledge and skills.

  • Undertakes a range of delegated clinical care duties in hospital, community or other settings
  • Records patient observations and changes to patients clinical conditions - Carries out limited clinical care duties
  • Follow all London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) policies and provide a safe and person-centred environment for the treatment of patients.
  • The post holder is responsible for delivering high standards of care, providing services in accordance with the Trust’s values and behaviours to support the nursing team in the delivery of patient care which is safe and effective.
  • The post holder is a fundamental part of the nursing team in providing care to patients/ carers/ relatives at LNWH, including the safe delivery of a range of clinical competency skills.
