Assistant Service Manager - Cancer Administration | Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

About this role

The Assistant Service Manager (Band 6) will play a key role in supporting the effective delivery and ongoing improvement of Cancer Services. Reporting to the Band 7 Service Manager, the post-holder will oversee the Cancer Referrals Office, ensuring timely and accurate processing of referrals and supporting the team to deliver a high‑quality, patient‑centred service.

They will act as a key liaison with GP practices and other external partners, promoting strong communication and resolving issues that impact patient flow or data quality. The post-holder will support the management and tracking of patients on cancer pathways, ensuring timely escalation where required to maintain compliance with national cancer waiting time standards.

The role will also contribute to national cancer audits, including COSD, and will deputise for the service manager as required, including representing the service at PTL meetings and supporting operational decision‑making. This position requires a proactive, solutions‑focused individual with excellent communication skills, strong organisational ability, and a commitment to continuous service improvement.
