Long Term Futures is seeking a resilient and proactive Behaviour Mentor for a full-time, classroom-based role in the Islington and Hackney area. This position is focused on supporting the wider classroom environment rather than 1:1 intervention, ensuring that students remain on task and that the learning environment remains productive and inclusive for all.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the class teacher in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a focused atmosphere.
- Implementing de-escalation strategies and identifying triggers for disruption across the class.
- Encouraging positive social interaction and engagement among students.
- Assisting with the delivery of the curriculum by supporting small groups or the whole class as needed.
- Reporting on student progress and behaviour patterns to the senior leadership team.
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of all pupils within the classroom setting.
Essential Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in a Behaviour Mentor or Teaching Assistant role within a UK secondary school.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build quick, professional rapport with students.
- A calm and assertive manner when handling challenging situations.
- The ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
- A commitment to specialising in behaviour management and inclusive education.
- Must hold a valid CV and an enhanced DBS check.
