The role

Carlisle Support Services is looking for a Head of Operations, Arts & culture venues management role, assuming full accountability on allocated contracts (South Bank Centre, British Film Institute, National Theatre & Somerset House). To focus on integrating workforce and building events capability and creating a brand for other cultural venues in and around London. Provide leadership & management support for other sites across London as required, and the mobilisation of new Arts & Culture venues awarded.

Your core role will include but not be limited to the following activities

  • Ensure all our people & site teams are fully engaged, committed and motivated to live and breathe the client’s vision and methodology.
  • Ensure services delivered through the Contract manager/Operation manager/ Events Manager adhere to our contractual terms, client KPI’s & SLA’s and aspire to a “world class” service solution and customer experience.
  • Coaching & development of the Operations, Contract & Events Manager’s across all sites.
  • Ensure protection of client personnel, assets, brand and profit via careful and considered selection and deployment of best practice processes and motivated and highly trained personnel.
  • Ensure sufficient levels of qualified and competent officers are recruited and retained with a positive can-do attitude to meet and aspire to exceed the current and projected future levels of personnel required.
  • Support site operational requirements in coaching and leading the Security and Events Managers and Teams, ensuring they are suitably developed, trained, rehearsed, briefed, ready and available to always carry out their roles and responsibilities to a “world class” standard.
  • Manage the Contract, Operations & Events Managers performance via our 1-2-1 process.
  • Conduct investigations and disciplinary action as required and following best practice advice from HR & legal advisors.
  • Maintain 100% Time Gate record of all our people and Clientshare PULSE dashboard to include people development and care visit records. (Visit and Site IT).
  • Lead on developing and arrange delivery of any specialist training and educational training including contractual requirements.
  • Ensure the Contract, Operations & Events Managers are on top of the recruitment process with support of our central recruitment team.
  • Following the on boarding process ensuring ensure the Contract, Operations & Events Managers probation, training and development plans are signed off and for complete for all our people.
  • Ensure the Contract, Operations & Events Managers have Carlisle policies and procedures in place are compliant with legislative and ISO 9002 requirements and that Carlisle’ own controls (Time Gate, AIs, and Risk Assessments etc) are all in place and up to date specifically for site.
  • Lead new contract mobilisations with the Head of Operations & Operational Support team.
  • Lead training and improvement projects.
  • Build & implement Contract Development Plans with the active input of the Contract,
  • Ensure the Contract, Operations & Events Managers complete monthly review packs.
  • Ensure 121’S/performance reviews completed and ensure the Contract, Operations & Events Managers are doing this with their teams.
  • Ensure succession planning for the Contract manager/ Ops Manager
  • Ensure all officers are deployed in line with the rigours of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 in terms of aligned licensing and training for officers and issues of screening for matters of safeguarding
  • Ensure the Contract manager/ Ops Manager complete regular audits across the team to ensure contract and legal compliance, and ensure any non-compliance is rectified and reported.
  • Promote a secure and safe working environment at each site by carrying out regular risk assessments and security reviews.
  • Communicate Health and Safety processes and policies to all staff and ensure they remain adequately trained including contract specific training.
  • Monitor portfolio P&L
  • Establish and encourage proactive working relationships with the key client stakeholders and local communities.

The ideal candidate

  • SIA Licensed - ideally Door Supervisor level & Spectator Safety Level 4
  • Good understanding of the UK Security industry
  • Previous recruitment experience
  • Previous people management experience
  • Knowledge and experience of dealing with physical and electronic security methods and measures
  • Knowledge security patrol systems
  • Excellent communication skills – articulate and focussed, proficient written skills, good listener
  • A good people manager, able to motivate and optimise outputs from team members.
  • Keen commercial skills with the ability to understand and control a P&L
  • Ideally hold full UK Driving Licence
  • Flexibility around working hours and patterns, with some weekends required

Successful candidates will be required to provide original documentation for detailed screening and vetting processes.

This could include the following

passport / driving licence / utility bill dated in the last 3 months / HMRC letter / original bank statement / original payslip / birth certificate / a valid share code.
