Caretaker
Based in East London
£29,912
- £31,486 per year
40 hours per week – Monday to Friday, 8am to 16:30pm
We have an opportunity for a Caretaker to join our team in East London, to provide an effective estate maintenance service that meets customer and organisational needs. This role sits within Property Services, which is responsible for delivering a high quality and cost effective property repairs, compliance and installation and estate services across the UK to mainly internal clients and additionally a small number of external clients. It is also responsible for operational Health and Safety of the service, including fire safety and delivering effective group wide asset management and reinvestment programmes.
The role of
Caretaker will include
- Providing an effective estate maintenance service by undertaking caretaking, cleaning, basic repair and grounds maintenance duties in accordance with local and legislative procedures to meet customer and organisational needs
- Providing accurate and timely information on progress and advice that is easily understood by the customer and ensure accurate daily work records are completed to meet organisational standards
- Carrying out risk assessments to identify and report any potential maintenance issues to ensure a safe environment is maintained and to support planned maintenance programmes
- Ensuring tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and used in line with policies and procedures and relevant regulations, reporting faults, hazards and inappropriate practice promptly, to ensure a safe living and working environment
- Ensuring all supplies and stocks are ordered, maintained and stored appropriately in line with regulation and organisational procedures
- Maintaining relationships with internal and external customers, providing accurate and timely information on progress and respond positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery to meet customer expectations, in accordance with contract specifications and escalate complaints as appropriate
- Providing regular reports for Senior Managers regarding health and safety issues and buildings maintenance
Skills and experiences
- Able to demonstrate a competent level of numeracy and literacy
- Experience in a similar role or completing similar tasks
- Some experience of working to deadlines and prioritising workloads
- Practical experience of carrying out risk assessments
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Knowledge of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) guidelines
- Basic communication skills for reading written instructions and updating records
- Good interpersonal and customer care skills
- This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence
