About this role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a consultant psychiatrist with our male admissions ward, Avonmore ward.

As an overview, the post-holder will be responsible for

Working in partnership with the team manager, unit manager and local lead to provide leadership, clinical supervision and development to the multi-disciplinary ward team.

Full participation in the multi-disciplinary team providing senior assessments, advice and supervision.

To lead regular ward rounds with the MDT, patients and carers.

Clinical lead for the ward.

Responsible clinician for detained-patients. Including production or supervision of high quality reports and attendance at tribunals.

There will be opportunities for the post holder to achieve and maintain relevant competencies to develop as clinicians and leaders. The post holder will be encouraged to get involved in management structures within the directorate and attend senior management meetings where possible. The post holder will be involved in recruitment processes for other staff especially other Speciality and Specialist doctors. The post-holder will contribute to service development in the team, e.g. supporting the team to achieve Royal College accreditation, and will contribute to clinical leadership on specific pathways and developments within the multidisciplinary team.

To take part in or chair serious untoward incident and complaints reviews as per AMHS rota.

To provide leadership and role modelling to the ward, for instance in attending de-briefing sessions and reflective practice.

To contribute to the Trust’s service programme of clinical and medical audit and clinical governance initiatives.

To lead the ward’s clinical governance meetings.

To play a full part in the further clinical development of the service. This will include teaching and training.

To provide clinical supervision to ward trainee and other doctors.

To work with the ward manager to ensure policies relevant to inpatient and PICU care are embedded in the delivery of clinical care.

To become part of the local senior leadership team for example by being an active member of the local Medical Advisory Committee, local bed management or interface meetings, AMHS SMARG, RRP, CIG, and Senior Management Team meetings.

To be registered for CPD with the Royal College of psychiatrists and to be up to date with appraisal, revalidation and mandatory training.
