What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a Head of Psychology who possesses the deep subject knowledge and leadership potential to inspire our curious, diverse and highly motivated students.

Psychology is a very popular choice at A Level with many students pursuing it to degree level at leading universities. We teach a Psychology curriculum that bridges the gap between arts and sciences through its study of human behaviour and mental processes.

  • have strong subject knowledge and be confident in teaching A level Psychology to high achieving students
  • be willing to use a range of strategies to teach across the ability range
  • be passionate about personal and professional development and demonstrate a willingness to engage with the findings of evidence-based research through our whole school CPD programme.
  • help extend and enrich students’ school experiences beyond the curriculum
  • have the ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and parents

What the school offers its staff

We can offer

  • the opportunity to join a highly successful and collaborative Maths department with a range of expertise
  • a well-established curriculum with high quality lesson resources available for all key stages
  • a wide range of online paid resources to support teaching and learning
  • a stimulating and creative environment in a school where extra-curricular activities flourish
  • a diverse workplace, with an engaged student and staff community who are currently collaborating on developing our whole school digital strategy
  • a two-week October half term
  • a caring environment where the work-life balance of teachers is proactively supported by the governors and senior leadership team.
  • Teacher pension scheme
  • numerous other benefits (please see our attached information pack)

Commitment to safeguarding

The Tiffin Girls’ School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share and support this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to both a full employment history and child protection check, and will also be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring (criminal record) check.
