Senior Staff Nurse Neuroradiology

About this role

1.1. Ensure there are arrangements in place for the reception of patients in the Neuroradiology Dept. 1.2. Arranging in consultation with the multidisciplinary team and the Ward Manager the transfer of patients and appropriate post procedural care. 1.3. Communicating and co-operating with other wards and departments giving accurate information as required, particularly with regard to notification of incidents and accidents to staff, patients and visitors. 1.4. Maintaining and monitoring a safe and clean environment within the clinical area in accordance with the Trust Health and Safety, Clinical Risk and Infection Control Policies.- 1.4.1. Investigating adverse incidents as required- observing for themes and ensuring timely action initiated. 1.4.2. Ensure learning is shared in relation to AIs/Infection control and used to drive future practice and service developments 1.4.3. in liaison with the infection team act as a Link Nurse for Neuroradiologythis may be delegated to a member of the Nursing team(see generic competency template attached for information) 1.4.4. Ensure systems in place to monitor and manage the quality of the clinical environment in relation to infection control 1.4.5. To be up to date with the elements of the hygiene code and their impact upon the local environment. To be proactive in managing this. 1.4.6. To carry out departmental hand hygiene/environmental audits in line with the trust rolling programme and to feedback results and remedial actions as required. 1.5. Ensuring that there are systems in place to maintain and monitor levels of stock, making sure that there are adequate supplies and that resources are used effectively. 1.6. Ensure there are systems in place for the correct handling, checking and storage of patient belongings and valuables. 1.7. To take appropriate action to address unexpected changes and situations, informing the on call Nurse or Neuroradiologist as necessary. 1.8. To participate in the nursing on call rota. 1.9. To be familiar with and use any computerised system integral to the running of the service.- this includes the use of word, excel, PowerPoint, RIS etc 1.10. To actively contribute to achieving the clinical governance goals of the Service and the Trust Nursing Strategy are met, completing any audits that may be required. 1.11. In the absence of the sister to provide clear and consistent leadership to the nursing team at all times. Developing and motivating them to develop individually and in line with both local and organisational objectives. 1.12. Working with the departmental Sister with the recruitment, selection and retention of nursing and Neuroradiology Support staff. 1.13. To assist in monitoring the department pay and non pay budgets to ensure the economic use of resources. 1.14. Delegate duties and tasks as appropriate to team members and evaluate the outcomes. 1.15. To offer support and assistance to the paediatric staff during Paediatric sessions within the department. 1.16. To co-ordinate and manage the workload in the Angiogram rooms, within Neuroradiology ensuring cohesion of the multidisciplinary team.
