About this role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced therapist with a passion for Neuro Rehab to join the SLT team working within the Wolfson Neurorehabilitation Service. The service provides levels 1 and 2 neurorehabilitation to a complex caseload of patients with acquired neurological conditions and this post sits within the level 2 service. Patients receive interdisciplinary input, following a patient-centred goal planning model.

The postholder will be part of a progressive and supportive speech and language and multidisciplinary team. Great emphasis is placed on supervision and professional development. Experience working in neurology or neurorehabilitation, as part of a team is essential. Experience in working with aphasia, cognitive communication disorder, dysarthria, apraxia and dysphagia is necessary. Working with families is an important part of the work. Excellent communication skills are essential and an interest in the process as well as the outcomes of rehabilitation is desirable.

Assessing, treating and managing caseload of adults with acquired communication and/or swallowing disorders relevant to specialist SLT skills

  • Making differential diagnosis on the basis of evidence from assessment.
  • Devising, implementing and evaluating individualised treatment programmes
  • Referral to and participation in instrumental assessments of swallowing
  • Counselling and advising others regarding the management and care of patients with communication and/or feeding and swallowing difficulties.
  • Managing and prioritising own caseload and workload independently.
  • Liaise with other colleagues and professional groups and referring patients for further investigation and/or second opinions as required.

-Maintaining adequate records of assessment, management, and treatment of patients.

An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our highly skilled Speech and Language Therapy service on the Wolfson Neuro Rehab Centre. The post holder will have the opportunity to work on our instrumental assessment rota and work towards relevant clinical competencies. The post holder will have experience providing SLT assessment and treatment of complex communication and swallowing disorders within an IDT setting. The post holder will carry their own caseload and have an important role in liaising with other specialist services to optimise patient outcomes.

The post holder will receive regular supervision and support to develop specialist clinical skills. They will be joining a highly supportive and innovative Speech and Language Therapy Department, offering well established CPD and learning opportunities.
