One Stop - Store Manager

About this role

We’re looking for a Store Manager to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Store Manager, you will be working in a fast paced retail environment where no day is the same.

You will be responsible for the overall daily operations of your store, ensuring efficiency and profitability.

As the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will be constantly looking for ways to improve service in your store through on the job coaching and feedback.

With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.

  • Responsible for leading and line managing a team of Shift Leaders and colleagues within one store, ensuring regular quality time is spent with them on shift.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues, understanding how they feel about working in the store through active listening and open conversations. Lead and enable a culture where colleague experience is at the heart of everything.
  • Role model curiosity and a self-serve culture, confidently using available tools to resolve queries and encouraging the team to do the same.
  • Lead a culture where the basics are delivered right first time, including ensuring colleagues are trained, welcomed warmly to One Stop, and compliant with all aspects of pay and employment. Ensure colleagues have the tools to do their job and support safety, health and wellbeing at work.
  • Continually review the structure and capability of the team to ensure a future-fit workforce, inspiring great performance and supporting development to build a high-performing team.
  • Complete all people leadership tasks, including absence management and problem solving, while recognising and celebrating team contribution and performance regularly.
  • Understand store resource needs, identify and develop internal talent, and recruit the best external candidates. Ensure a diverse and inclusive talent pipeline that reflects the community served.
  • Manage all store KPIs, sharing ideas with other Store Managers in the area to maximise growth and profitability. Performance measured through day-to-day delivery, strategic objectives and impact on others.
  • Oversee the operation of all store services, including Post Office Local, Evri and vending.
  • Implement business changes and new ways of working within the store.
  • Resource the store within the labour budget to ensure it remains open for trading and fully compliant, while prioritising candidate care and following recruitment principles.
  • Ensure customers have a great shopping experience and that the business brings value to the local community through trusted partnerships.
  • Coach the team daily to deliver excellent store standards and a great shopping trip.
  • Review local competitor activity to understand threats and opportunities, turning insight into action.
  • Ensure customers and colleagues go home safely every day by leading a strong health and safety culture and reviewing incidents, accidents and audit performance.
  • Support the team with day-to-day tasks such as serving customers, stock replenishment and completing safe and legal routines, alongside leadership responsibilities.
  • Act as the DPS/Premises Licence holder, maintaining responsibility for all alcohol sales within the store.
  • If this store has a Post Office Local, You will be responsible for operating and managing all Post Office processes therefore you will need to undertake a Post Office Financial and criminal conviction background check, which you will be required to pass in order to proceed with this role, if these checks fail, we will be forced to withdraw the job offer.’
