Role Summary
The postholder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team providing high quality care to inpatients and outpatients across a range of medicine and surgery specialties. Duties include ward cover, clerking new admissions, reviewing unwell patients, participating in ward rounds, and supporting safe patient flow.
You will work under the supervision of registrars and consultants, with opportunities to develop procedural skills and gain experience suitable for progression to core training.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in daily ward rounds and document clinical plans
- Clerk and assess new admissions
- Manage acutely unwell patients with senior support
- Request and interpret investigations
- Prepare discharge summaries and treatment plans
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and MDT
- Participate in the on call rota (days/nights/weekends)
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies, governance, and patient safety standards
Essential Requirements
- Valid Right to Work in the UK (no visa sponsorship offered)
- GMC registration with licence to practise
- ALS certification (in date)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in the relevant specialty
- Ability to work independently at SHO level
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
