About this role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivatedStaff Nurseto join our team on York ward at theRoyal Brompton Hospital. York ward is a specialist 28-bedded cardiology ward. Here, we care for a diverse range of patients with complex heart conditions, working collaboratively with multiple world-class medical teams.
Our caseload is uniquely varied, including patients with
- Congenital heart conditions (ACHD) and Heart Failure.
- Pulmonary Hypertension
- Inherited cardiovascular disease and infective endocarditis.
- Pre - op cardiac and lung surgery.
- Pre & post-structural procedures such as TAVI and TEER.

The successful candidate will work across the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide the highest standard of individualised and holistic patient care. You will gain extensive experience in managing a varied range of specialist patients, from pre-birth to old age, within a high-quality clinical environment.

Assessing, planning, and implementing evidence-based care programs to meet the physiological and psychological needs of our patients.

Acting as a role model by supervising and teaching junior staff, learners, and healthcare support workers.

Clinical Practice and Patient Care
- Deliver high-quality nursing care for assigned patient groups, including assessment, re-assessment, and discharge planning.
- Prioritize workloads according to changing clinical needs and take charge of the clinical area when required with appropriate support.
- Promote a healthy lifestyle for patients and staff in line with national strategy.
- Contribute to setting goals and benchmarking standards of care under the supervision of the Ward Manager.
Communication and Collaboration
- Demonstrate kindness, respect, and sensitivity in all interactions with patients, relatives, and colleagues.
- Adapt communication styles to overcome barriers such as language or complex clinical needs.
- Work cohesively with the MDT to ensure the absolute best services are provided at all times.
Management and Development
- Actively participate in the Trust’s annual appraisal process and preceptorship programs.
- Contribute to service development by identifying clinical risks and participating in clinical governance and audits.
- Support resource management by ensuring effective use of equipment and assisting with duty rotas to meet service needs.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to Information Governance and Data Protection policies.
