Senior Sister / Charge Nurse Coordinator

About this role

Working in collaboration with the Neonatal MDT support the transition for babies who are referred to other inpatient services and provide support for families during the transition process. To take an active part in MDT ward rounds ensuring each babys home hospital is discussed in planning their care in order to arrange early transfers to babys local hospital. Update all relevant hospitals on the status of their babies in care at CW. Be aware of transfers out of CW that live local to the hospital and liaise with the nurse in charge and relevant consultant to plan babies being transferred back in a timely manner. Maintaining appropriate staffing levels within set budgets and identify resource/staffing issues in advance. Ensure that sensitive patient records are stored appropriately and that trust Information Governance policies are followed. To communicate effectively in a skilled and sensitive manner in both written and verbal form. To ensure all nursing documentation for all staff is concise and accurate and reflects the patients needs. Act as a resource person, providing accurate information, advice and support to the MDT, parents and carers. Be aware of the Trusts safeguarding policies and procedures and demonstrate the ability to be able to and enable others to raise concerns and work closely with the Trusts safeguarding team and other agencies to protect children. To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified with in your clinical competence. Participate in the detection, management and prevention of safeguarding issues within the Neonatal unit.
