Are you an experienced intensive care nurse looking for bank work in a Critical Care

setting ICU/HDU?

We would love you to come and join our Critical Care Team at Epsom and St Helier

University NHS Hospital.

We have bank RN vacancies available for motivated and enthusiastic intensive care nurses.

We currently provide 21 beds cross-site with the ability to flex beds depending on service

needs.

STH ICU provides care for patients requiring emergency/scheduled surgery, acute medical

patients and those requiring renal support.

EGH HDU/ICU provides care for acute medical patients & those requiring elective

surgery/enhanced recovery programme.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are team players and have excellent

communication and time management skills. As a Bank RN you will be expected to provide

high standards of holistic patient care, support the MDT and be involved in bedside

teaching.

Please note applicants must have completed a Specialist Critical Care Course (60

credits), hold a valid IV drug certificate, and have recent Critical Care experience in an

acute care setting.

To ensure that the unit interfaces with all other departments in a

professional and productive manner at all times.

To be a fully active and committed member of the multidisciplinary team

operating on the Intensive Care and High Dependency Units.

Will keep up to date with clinical developments relevant to the speciality

and current issues relating to the profession and the Trust.

Inform manager when changes in circumstances occur which may

affect safe and competent practice.

Work with and support the critical care clinical governance structure to

promote patient safety and quality of care. This includes reading all

relevant governance reports and actions.

Report all incidents and serious untoward clinical incidents, complete

relevant documentation, and co-operate with investigations as required.

Ensure that all staff are aware of their legal responsibilities with regard

to the prescription and administration and custody of drugs.

Works towards achieving Epsom & St. Helier University Hospitals NHS

Trust objectives as laid out in the Nursing and Midwifery Strategy.

Ensures that accurate records and information systems are maintained

and that all staff are trained in the use of relevant IT systems.

To manage own workload, prioritising care with advice and supervision

of a senior staff member.

Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care within sphere of

responsibility.

Works cooperatively and collaboratively with multi-disciplinary colleagues

of care reflect current patient care needs.

To provide quality, holistic care of a high standard to both the critically ill

patients and their families within Epsom & St. Helier University Hospitals

To liaise and co-operate with other relevant departments within the

hospital.

To act as a resource for peers, patients, relatives, carers and other staff

groups

To participate in the unit and nursing service development in a proactive

manner

To ensure safe patient care, staff may be asked, at short notice, to work at

either Epsom General Hospital or St Helier Hospital ICU/HDU. This decision

would be made by the ICU/HDU Matron, having taken into account staffing,

skill mix, patient dependency and acuity and capacity within both units.
