RDA Team Leader

Duties and responsibilities Manage the day-to-day running of the RDA staff and resolving any issues that may arise Monitor the staff workloads and allocate work according to staffing levels and adjust these during periods of sickness or unexpected changes in workload. Manage RDA staff sickness in line with Trust HR policies, undertaking return to work interviews. To liaise with Modality leads when attendance management rules are breached Identify training needs and provide opportunities for staff to undergo relevant training. Undertake mandatory training on a regular basis, ensuring that the RDA staff also comply with the requirements for mandatory training and adhere to the Health and safety at Work Act. Ensure that all imaging modalities are allocated RDA staff to cover their operational service hours and ensure training is provided and recorded for all staff. To chair RDA staff meetings in the absence of the Modality Leads Train new RDAs on the job and ensure that progress is monitored. Ensure a mentor is appointed and the RDA induction programme is successfully completed. To undertake probationary review meetings. Provide a proficient cannulation service and ensure all cross-sectional RDAs can provide the same level of service To check stock levels as part of the departmental weekly stock checks, document this and report low stock levels to the relevant senior manager To communicate with a broad range of patients prior to examination. This may include patients whose first language is not English or those who have difficulty understanding due to their medical condition To be able to deal with many, often conflicting, demands on attention at the same time, while remaining focused on your current task To carry out other duties as requested by any member of the senior management team To undergo an annual performance appraisal and review, whereby future objectives are identified and actioned To appraise and line manage the RDA cohort To present a professional front at all times while on duty and be an ambassador for the profession and the department Coordinate the arrival and departure of patients to and from the relevant departments To assist in the manual handling of patients moving to and from scanning areas, in line with trust manual handling policies Insert and remove patient’s cannulas for relevant imaging procedures following appropriate training To train and mentor junior staff To assist Radiographers and Assistant Practitioners within the cross-sectional imaging departments To liaise with ward staff and porters to facilitate workflow To manage inpatient orders on CRIS and contact relevant teams regarding patient details To be aware of risks related to communicable diseases and procedures for barrier nursed /reverse barrier nursed patients To rotate between all sites within PAHT
