About this role

The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred primary medical services to the practice population, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care. They will contribute to the ongoing development of the practice and support the delivery of excellent clinical outcomes and patient experience. Responsibilities will include undertaking face-to-face, telephone and online consultations for patients presenting with acute and chronic medical conditions; assessing, diagnosing, treating and managing patients in accordance with current clinical guidelines and best practice; prescribing safely and appropriately within national and local prescribing guidance; reviewing and actioning pathology results, investigations and clinical correspondence in a timely manner; and making appropriate referrals to secondary care, community services and other healthcare providers. The post holder will undertake home visits when clinically required, maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records using the practice clinical system, and work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, pharmacists and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated patient care. They will contribute to the management of patients with long-term conditions and preventative healthcare needs, participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audit and QOF-related activities, and support the achievement of practice objectives and contractual requirements. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in clinical meetings, practice meetings and educational events, contribute to the teaching and support of medical students, Foundation Doctors and GP Trainees where appropriate, and engage in mandatory training and continuing professional development activities. They will also support the practice's clinical governance processes through the reporting and review of significant events, incidents and complaints in line with practice policies. The post holder will maintain full GMC registration and a licence to practise, work in accordance with GMC Good Medical Practice guidance, and maintain professional competence through appraisal, revalidation and continuing professional development. They will adhere to practice policies, safeguarding procedures, information governance standards and all relevant professional and statutory requirements. The post holder may be required to undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and nature of the role following discussion with the Partners and Practice Management Team.
