An established independent preparatory school is seeking an experienced and nurturing SEND

Specialist to provide dedicated 1

1 support for a Reception-aged pupil with sensory processing needs and social, behavioural and emotional regulation challenges.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, parents and external professionals to deliver tailored support that enables the pupil to thrive both academically and socially.

The Role

Key responsibilities include

Providing individualised learning support within the Early Years setting.

Supporting emotional regulation, communication, engagement and social development.

Working collaboratively with teachers, SEND professionals, parents and external agencies.

Implementing and reviewing personalised learning plans and behaviour support strategies.

Adapting learning materials and activities to meet individual needs.

Monitoring progress and maintaining accurate records.

Promoting inclusion, well-being, and positive behaviour.

Contributing to a safe, nurturing and structured learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

Applicants should have

Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly sensory processing, communication or behavioural needs.

Experience working with Early Years or Reception-aged children.

Knowledge of SEND processes and inclusive educational practice.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.

The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

SEND, Early Years or Child Development qualifications.

Training in sensory integration or sensory circuits.

Experience with ASD profiles, visual supports, PECS, Makaton or similar communication systems.

Experience working alongside Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Educational Psychologists.
