About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Enfield from September 2026.
This is a full-time position supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and other professionals to help pupils access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.
The role may involve supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis, in small groups, or within the classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide support for pupils with SEND, including those with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional and mental health needs.
Deliver targeted interventions and learning activities under the guidance of teaching staff.
Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development.
Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual needs.
Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil engagement.
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and SEN staff.
Assist with personal care where required.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must have
Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs in a school setting.
A valid Enhanced DBS certificate, ideally registered on the Update Service..
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, caring, and proactive approach.
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable
Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification.
Experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs.
Knowledge of EHCPs and SEND support strategies.
Experience delivering interventions and supporting individual learning plans.
