Co Packing Supervisor

About this role

Our client is currently looking to recruit a Co Packing Supervisor to work for a local company based in Peterborough.

Hours are Monday to Friday 06.00-14.00pm. Working hours must be flexible as shift changes and weekend working is required when promotional work is being completed.

Purpose of the role

As a Co-packing Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a team of production operatives, you will be implementing and monitoring individual and team objectives and targets whilst ensuring company policies, procedures and legal requirements are adhered to. You will continuously coordinate resources/activity in real time to ensure that the shift completes all agreed tasks on time.

  • Direct reports of circa 20 to 40 all agency staff dependant on volumes.
  • Temperature of 2°C to 8°C.

In this role you are accountable for

  • To lead, motivate and supervise a team of production operatives to ensure they work effectively to meet customer demands.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities within the production department whilst being able to involve themselves in practical work on the floor as required.
  • Ensuring products are produced on time meeting line standards and demands.
  • Daily management of a team of agency staff on shift through planning resources to ensure activities on shift are achieved within budget.
  • Carry out staff daily brief detailing current day’s workload, any specific communication points and allocate duties as necessary.
  • Monitor hygiene and housekeeping and promote a clean as you go policy to ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained.
  • Ensure compliance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and oversee working practices ensuring temperature checks, equipment checks, correct stock rotation etc is maintained.
  • Assist with regular and spot stock takes as required.
  • Follow the requirements of the Standard Operating Procedures for the safe and legal handling of food.
  • Take reasonable care of both your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions, ensuring all company safety and quality systems are adhered to. Raising concerns and reporting any incidents to your manager/supervisor.
  • Ensuring all waste is segregated and disposed of in line with the company processes, recycling wherever possible.
  • Ensure products and raw materials are stored properly at optimum conditions.
  • Where applicable conducting investigations in line with the Company’s disciplinary procedure.
  • Dealing with poor performance, attendance and general misconduct via verbal communication and file notes.
  • Conduct return to work interviews with returning direct reports following an absence.
  • To carry out any other reasonable management instruction to the expected standards which ultimately supports the business.

The skills required for the role

  • Production environment experience.
  • Supervisor experience.
  • Experience of hygiene procedures, standards and equipment in the chilled food industry.
  • Experience of working with standard operating procedures.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal and written.
  • Good computer skills – Microsoft - WMS.
  • A ‘Can do’ attitude and proactive approach.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach and flexible in a busy changing environment.
  • Be able to lead, motivate, supervise and develop staff to ensure effective working.
  • Good time management with an ability to manage your workload within pre-set deadlines.
  • Demonstrate good people management skills, leading by example and able to engage with colleagues at all levels. Ability to handle pressure in a time sensitive environment.
  • Good numeracy skills.
