About this role

We are recruiting for a Hepatology fibroscan Technician and Admin support who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

This is a specialised, patient-facing role within NHS Gastroenterology departments, focusing on the non-invasive assessment of liver health. The role combines technical clinical skills—operating FibroScan (Transient Elastography) machines to measure liver scarring—with administrative duties to manage patient pathways and data collection. Often working alongside Specialist Nurses and Consultants with ward patients or in hospital outpatients settings.

Independent Scan Delivery

Perform FibroScan assessments (transient elastography) on patients to detect and monitor liver disease

Patient Care & Education

Prepare patients, explain the procedure, obtain verbal consent, and provide information on the test results (where appropriate).

Equipment Maintenance

Perform routine maintenance and calibration of Fibroscan machines in line with manufacturer protocols.

Infection Control

Maintain high standards of hygiene and infection control.

Data Collection & Recording

Accurately record Fibroscan results on hospital systems, maintain databases.

Pathway Management

Identify appropriate patients, maintain recalls (e.g., Varices, Hepatocellular Carcinoma surveillance)

Liaison & Communication

scheduling clinics, arranging appointments.

Reporting

Timely data submission to national audits.
