Luma Education Recruitment are working with a specialist provision to recruit a resilient and committed SEMH Behaviour Mentor to support pupils aged 10–18 with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
This is a permanent, term-time only position, ideal for someone confident managing behaviour, building strong relationships, and supporting young people who may have experienced significant barriers to mainstream education.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1
1 and small group mentoring for pupils with SEMH needs
Support pupils in managing behaviour, emotions, and engagement in learning
De-escalate challenging situations using appropriate behaviour strategies
Work closely with teaching staff to implement individual support plans
Act as a positive role model, promoting structure, consistency, and trust
Support reintegration into learning and improve attendance and engagement
Requirements
Experience working with young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or in alternative provision
Confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
Strong relationship-building skills and emotional resilience
Background in youth work, mentoring, coaching, or similar desirable
TeamTeach, PRICE, or de-escalation training (desirable but not essential)
Enhanced DBS (on Update Service) required prior to starting
