Job Purpose
To lead and manage a supported living service for adults with learning disabilities and autism, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care in line with CQC regulations and best practice. The role includes responsibility for day-to-day operations, compliance, staff leadership, and service development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Service Leadership & Quality
- Lead the service in line with CQC standards aiming for a ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ rating.
- Promote person-centred and outcome-focused care.
- Support individuals to live independently.
- Implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
2. Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain compliance with CQC regulations.
- Ensure care plans and documentation are audit-ready.
- Oversee safeguarding and investigations.
- Apply Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and DoLS.
3. Staff Management & Development
- Recruit, train, and retain staff.
- Conduct supervision and appraisals.
- Ensure staff competency in autism care.
- Build a positive team culture.
4. Operational Management
- Manage rotas and staffing.
- Oversee medication and health & safety.
- Ensure incident reporting systems.
- Work with housing providers.
5. Stakeholder & Partnership Working
- Liaise with local authorities, professionals, and families.
- Manage referrals and placements.
- Handle complaints effectively.
6. Financial & Business Management
- Manage budgets.
- Maintain occupancy levels.
- Support business development.
Person Specification
Essential
- Minimum 2 years’ management experience in health & social care.
- Experience in learning disabilities and autism supported living.
- Strong knowledge of CQC regulations.
- Participation in at least one CQC inspection/interview.
- Experience in a service rated ‘Good’ or above by CQC.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, MCA, and DoLS.
- Leadership and organisational skills.
Desirable
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care.
- Experience with PBS.
- Experience improving CQC ratings.
- Experience with local authority commissioning.

This role offers a clear pathway to become a Senior Registered Manager within 2–3 years. The successful candidate will progressively take responsibility for multiple supported living services, overseeing Deputy Registered Managers at each location and contributing to strategic growth.
